VMC Landscape Services was originally conceived in 1973 as the landscape department for the Vantage Companies, a preeminent national commercial real estate developer.  In 1989 Al Horstmann, as President of Vantage Management Co., Inc. separately incorporated VMC Landscape Services as a standalone company for the purpose of servicing clients other than the various Vantage entities.  Mr. Horstmann led a management buyout of VMC in 2000.

Mr. Horstmann was President of Vantage Management Company for eleven years prior to joining Bradford Management Company, Inc. as President in 1989.  He also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Bradford Realty Services, Inc. and served on its board of Directors.

Al Horstmann received both Bachelor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Texas A&M – Commerce.  He is a Certified Property Manager as designated by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), has served on the local Board of Directors of the Institute of  Real Estate Management (IREM) from 1991 through 1996 and as President of Dallas IREM in 1995.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors (NTCAR) in 1994 and 1995.  He served on the Dallas Board of Directors of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) from 1998 through 2000, as Vice President in 2001, as President in2002, 2003, and completed his board responsibilities was immediate Past President in 2004.  He served on the Board of Directors of Texas BOMA in 2002 – 2005. His property management background included office, industrial, retail and multi-family management.

Bruce Verdick has worked in commercial landscape management since 1980 and has a wealth of experience managing premier commercial landscapes in Texas and Florida.

At VMC, Bruce oversees client relations, maintenance, irrigation, seasonal color and landscape enhancements for more than 400 commercial properties.  In this role, he directs the activities of more than 100 VMC associates.  In addition, Bruce serves as account manager for select commercial clients, providing effective communication for quality control and consulting.

Kathy Ferguson has been with VMC Landscape Services since 2000, where she has been instrumental in the design, implementation and supervision of the firm’s accounting system, policies and procedures. She joined VMC with more than 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management.  Kathy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Mark Slicker joined VMC Landscape Services in 1994 and has been in commercial landscape management and sales since 1981.  He oversees the firm’s efforts in communicating VMC’s range of services and assisting industrial and commercial property managers in assembling comprehensive maintenance programs.  With his LEED certification, he also focuses on our efforts to improve the Green initiative through proper landscape design and water conservation. Mark received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Genna Philpott has worked in the landscape industry for more than 20 years. Her responsibilities include business development, client communication, property evaluation and consultation. Genna attended Texas Tech University where she studied horticulture and landscape architecture.

Craig Emery utilizes more than a decade of landscape management experience to schedule and manage the work for multiple maintenance crews for VMC Landscape. He ensures that VMC’s standards and safety criteria are maintained in the field. In addition, Craig serves as an Account Manager for select commercial clients, providing direction on enhancements and quality control.

David Myers joined VMC Landscape Services in 2004.  David has a very unique background after five years of private estate management in New York as well as being a pesticide applicator in the State of New York.

David’s responsibilities include management of all aspects of VMC’s municipal contracts and crews as well as account management on some key commercial contracts.  In addition he is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all vehicles and equipment.

David’s education includes:

- Texas Department of Agriculture – Licensed Category 5 Commercial Pesticide Applicator

- State of Texas – Licensed Irrigation Technician

Brett began working with VMC Landscape Services in 1999.  He has grown with VMC during his tenure from managing municipal operations to currently managing all aspects of our commercial division, as well as account management.

Brett has worked closely with suppliers and VMC staff to make sure that they are outfitted with industry leading equipment and procedures to ensure efficiency and superior results for our customers, while also looking to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment.

Tino Alba began his landscape career in 1987 and was a supervisor for Las Colinas Landscape and Texas Rose Landscape prior to joining VMC Landscape Services in 1998.  Tino’s responsibilities include both operations and account management responsibilities for VMC.  He also provides technical support for the Operations Management staff.

Tino established the baseline expectations for VMC’s operations department during his first five years at VMC.  Over the past several years, he was promoted into a dual Operations  Manager / Account Management position due to his ability to schedule crews and maintain a high level of quality control while ensuring client relations which has produced several very long term client partnerships.

Scott joined VMC Landscape Services in 2008.  He began his career with VMC after eight years in the lawn care industry.  Scott is responsible for the day to day activities of our commercial maintenance crews.  He has quickly grown into account management and has overseen some of our largest most demanding properties, including HOA’s, corporate campuses and retail sites.

Scott’s education includes:

Greg Henson joined VMC Landscape Services in 1999.  Greg’s responsibilities include management of irrigation construction, maintenance and repair operations as well as irrigation consulting and account management for VMC.  He started in the landscape and irrigation industry in 1980, owned his own irrigation company for several years and has also worked with such notable companies as Lincoln Property Company (LP) and Community Management Associates (CMA).

     Commercial Landscapes” for Licensed Irrigators.

John Taylor began his landscape and irrigation career in 1981 and was the irrigation department manager for Lincoln Property Company (LPC) for 20 years.  Before joining VMC Landscape Services in March 2011, John owned his own irrigation company for several years and performed commercial and residential installations, repairs and consulting in the DFW area as well as Houston and San Antonio.  John’s responsibilities include the day to day scheduling of irrigation crews, maintaining irrigation inspection and repair logs, creating repair and upgrade proposals for clients as well as irrigation consulting.

John’s education includes:

Yvonne Langiano joined VMC Landscape Services in 2007 with over 25 years in Human Resources.  While at VMC, Yvonne created and guided the startup and management of a full spectrum of HR operations, systems and programs.  She handles all aspects and areas of the Human Resources Department.  She provides employee assistance throughout the company and works as a liaison between employees and management.
